What a weekend! Did kindav a lot. Here we go:
To celebrate 4th of July (I’m conflicted, but it’s still better than a monarchy) I made poboys:




The cookbook is Mosquito Supper Club.
My boys went with me to get the wood for the hope chest; it was their idea to make the top out of ash1.


The first thing I did was to glue up all of the panels. In the past I would spend ages doing this, but this time around I decided to let each piece sit in clamps for 30m, rather than something crazy like 8h or longer.



The next day I flattened and smoothed the panels. Hard work but rewarding!






Once the panels were flat and smooth I took them to the shooting board to get them nice and square. I have skipped this step in the past with dovetails and that was such a mistake. The joint is better if everything is square, but the end grain being smooth makes marking the cuts and even sawing the cuts easier:
