Last week I took a quick run to Anderson Plywood to get what I need for the next project:



I had a lot of non-wood things to do this weekend, so I wasn’t able to actually cut any of this wood, sadly.
Here’s one of the things I did; flattened my stones:


In the past I’d flatten stones by sticking the coarsest sandpaper I had to plate glass. It’s not especially effective, so I decided to give the DMT lapping plate a shot. It’s pretty expensive, but I heard good things. I should have gotten this years ago. I was able to flatten all four sides of the two stones in maybe 15 minutes. When I used sandpaper before it took 90 minutes.
Hopefully the stone stays fast once it gets reasonably worn. I had a bad experience with the DMT sharpening stones when I first got started; they got really slow after a couple months of use.
Aside from flattening stones, I got started planning out next steps for the behind-the-door organizer (I’ll come up with a proper name before next week.) Here’s my drawing so far:
