I’m in second grade at Magnolia Park Elementary. My teacher is Mrs. Bond. We had some kind of plan where you could get little toys, I don’t really remember how, stars or points or something. Kyle Pipkins really had his eye on the vampire teeth that were in the basket.
“Steal those for me!” I did it; I don’t remember even feeling bad about it.
Cat asked me to make her (or maybe I insisted on making her) a jewelry organizer. She did some research and asked for a nearly doubled version of one of these. I always pick the harder way to do anything, so instead of using dowels to join the two pieces together, I learned to do angled dovetails.
Cat and I decided together to make the brass rods 1/4” in diameter; I’d like them to be bigger but then most earrings wouldn’t be able to fit. I used my bevel gauge to draw a line parallel to the brass rods and used a spirit level to ensure that line was level with the floor, and used the wedding ring trick to bore the holes parallel to the floor.
After adding the brass rods, gluing the dovetails, screwing in the hooks, and making a couple hang holes, I mounted it on the wall next to Cat’s battle station. Fun little project; could have taken a day were it easier to source four feet of 1/4” brass rod.
Like I said, I didn’t feel bad about stealing the plastic vampire teeth. But Kyle felt bad, and he told his mom. His mom told Mrs. Bond. And then I got into trouble!
What is the wedding ring trick? Nice work on the jewelry holder.
